Sidewalk Film Festival is produced by the Alabama Moving Image Association, a federally recognized 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission to inspire, encourage and support filmgoers, the city of Birmingham and the filmmaking community. In addition to hosting the annual film festival, we host monthly networking and educational events, a monthly documentary series, short film and screenwriting competitions, manage a youth board and a variety of other year-round programs.

Tickets sales to our events cover approximately 1/3 of our annual operating cash budget, so we depend on corporate sponsors, grant-making organizations and individuals like you to survive. if you’d like to know more about supporting Sidewalk, please contact us at sidewalk@sidewalkfest.com.

Using Sched.org as our primary scheduling tool, we are happy to offer four different ways to view this year’s lineup. By hovering your cursor over the "Schedule" tab below, you can take your pick of a Simple, Expanded, Grid, or By Venue view.

I'm Cameo Wood, a filmmaker based in San Francisco, California. I'm a full-time filmmaker and you can watch my most recent film "Real Artists" on iTunes/Amazon/Seed&Spark right now. I'm currently working on my first feature. In 2018 I won the AT&T Film Award for best short film awarded by Ava DuVernay. "Real Artists" won 35 awards, was nominated for dozens more, and enjoyed screenings at over 150 film festivals throughout the world.

I produced and co-directed episodes of "The Alternative Guide to Secret Beijing" which was featured on Atlas Obscura. My first film, "Dukha in Summer", premiered at the St. Louis Film International Film Festival and was nominated for best short at five others. I'm a member of Cinefemme, Women in Film, Alliance of Women Directors, Film Independent, WomenNMedia, and the co-founder of the SF chapter of Cinefemme's Dinner with Dames. I co-founded the Coven Film Festival which will be held in SF on February 9th, 2019 and is a showcase of short films made by women. I am a repeat speaker at the Camp Reel Stories' Girls Day Workshop. I’ve participated in both the inaugural Sundance Co//ab Screenwriting Lab and the Fiction Directing Labs.

When not writing my time travel screenplay, I work on the deextinction of the woolly mammoth and passenger pigeon, my beekeeping nonprofit, and I indulge in fine dining.  I've completed Medical Neuroscience at Duke University, Futurism at Stanford University, Witchcraft & Magic at Bennington College, Aerospace Engineering at the University of Alabama, Huntsville,  and recently completed courses in Egyptology at University of Pennsylvania. From 1995-2008 I was an engineer at GTE Labs, Sprint, Lucent, and Cisco. In 2008 I founded “Her Majesty’s Secret Beekeeper”; the first urban beekeeping store in America.
